Asked Questions |
What are the new continuing education requirements
for the NCBEEC? While the requirement is still that each licensee must
have 8 hours of continuing education, starting in July 1 2008 the new annual requirement
is that 4 of the hours must be obtained from a classroom setting and the other
4 hours may be obtained by several means including tests (online and paper form).
CECA presently offers testing in paper form and online form. In the near future
CECA will be offering classroom sessions as well. Please check our association
website at www.carolinaseca.org for updates on classroom sessions. CECA
also offers additional free classroom sessions to CECA Members. If you are interested
in membership please either contact the CECA office or click
here for member information. What can I expect when
I take the Code Course Continuing Education from this website? An easy
format that will grade your test and notify you at completion whether you
passed or failed. This testing format is built to the needs and interests of electrical
contractors. There is an interactive sample area and downloadable handouts
to enhance your learning experience. Feedback is provided with all questions
which reinforce the Code Course content. To get a better idea of what we have
to offer, please visit our Sample Test area.
When can I take my courses? At any time within the
time requirements of your licensing renewal. CECA understands that you want
flexible, convenient options when looking for the Code Course Continuing Education
Courses. This testing area can be accessed at any time, from any computer with
an Internet connection. You can log in and out of courses at any point, and when
you log back in, you can return to the first unanswered question. Can
I log off the test before it is completed and return back to it at a later time?
Yes. When you log back into your test, it will start you back at the beginning
of the test and allow you to scroll through the previously answered and skipped
questions until you reach the question from your previous session. And though
you are able to review previously answered questions, once an answer has been
submitted you can only review it, not change it. Can I change
my answers? If you select an answer and instead of selecting the "Submit
Answer" button you select the "Next Question" button you can go
back and review previous questions. The site will save the answers selected and
allow you to change your answer. But, once you select the "Submit Answer"
button, your answer can not be changed. Also, any skipped
questions will count towards your final grade, so please ensure all 50 questions
for the NC NEC or 25 questions for the Virginia are answered. Do
I need special computer hardware or software to take the Code Course Continuing
Education Course sponsored by CECA? The only software that you will need
is Adobe® Reader ® (allows you to view and print .pdf documents). If you
do not have this software program installed, it is available free of charge from
the Adobe
website. Installation is easy and step-by-step instructions for download
are provided. Will you keep records of my courses?
Yes, a confidential record of the tests that you have taken will reside in
your Account area that is on the web-site. These records can only be accessed
by authorized personnel, and will not be shared with anyone other than the
customer. CECA will never sell your information to anyone. What
forms of payment are accepted? Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
Electronic payments are made using a secure server through GeoTrust. When
do I receive my certificate of completion? At the end of your testing session,
if you have passed the test there will be a link allowing you to immediately
print your Certificate of Completion Card for each test. If you have taken
all 3 test's and want a consolidated reflecting 24 hours of credit, there are
easy instructions in your account area or you can visit this link.
This website is one of the fastest services available in providing you your wallet
size card. Do you contact the State Board with my earned credits?
CECA does send your credit hours earned to the State Board which takes about 4
days. Most of the time, the turnaround is less than that. You may request that
we notify the state of Virginia of your earned credits as well by using our contact
form with the Contact Reason of "State of Virginia Certification". What
if I cant find the answer to my question on the Questions and Answers Page
regarding the Code Course test? Customer support is available via
contacting CECA. We will respond to you as quickly as possible with
any problem that you might be having. Online
Payment Frequently Asked Questions I Received a Fraud Alert
message when trying to purchase my test and could not complete the transaction.
Fraud Alert is a "general" or vague term coming from the Gateway
which is the middle man between your bank and CECA. The Gateway is an added level
of protection so that your personal information remains separate from testing
site.
Should you receive a Fraud Alert in one of your purchases, the
below list could be the problem. If after your second attempt, the purchase is
still receiving a fraud alert, contact the issuing bank of your credit card. If
you try a third purchase attempt, you run the chance of your credit card being
"locked" by your credit card company due to too many duplicate attempts. Fraud
Alert Explanations: 1. Duplicate transaction 2. Card code doesn't
match - 3 or 4 digit code on
the back of credit card 3. Declined I'm trying to purchase
a test and I get an error page saying :sgs-020003:invalid xml:? First make
sure you did not put any symbols like @ or , or letters in your credit card field.
If that does not clear up the problem, then the anti-virus or spyware(SpyBot)
software on the computer is preventing the XML code on the purchase page to communicate
with the Gateway. Either change the settings of the software to allow XML or use
another computer. Privacy

Asked Questions | TEST ACCESS PROBLEMS
If you are having a problem accessing a test that you have purchased in your
account area, please
e-mail us immediately so that we can take care of you quickly. Once we
have received your e-mail, this issue typically takes several minutes to fix.
I can't log-in to the My Account area? Please insure you are registered
and have confirmed your registration by responding to the confirmation e-mail
sent to your e-mail box. Also make sure that you have entered the correct e-mail
address and password in the log-in box. Your email address and password are case
sensitive. If you suspect that you have typo in your registration information
and that is the reason that an e-mail could not be sent to you, please re-create
your account. Why didn't I receive a confirmation that my registration
was active? There could be several things. First, you might have entered a
typo when you typed in your e-mail address. Second, your e-mail settings or SPAM
software might prohibit "BCC" or what is called Blind Carbon Copied
e-mail. If you are currently blocking "BCC" e-mail, temporarily suspend
from your SPAM software to allow the e-mail to deliver and then add our e-mail
address to your "White List", "Accepted Contact" or your "Address
Book" INTERNAL ERROR MESSAGES
I get an "Internal server error HTTP 500"? Sometimes this might
be a wrong key stroke or the server is running slowly. Right click your mouse
on the light teal colored space on the left hand of the screen and select "Refresh".
This will reload the page and in most cases you will receive the page as requested.
If you continue to receive these "HTTP ERRORS" contact us
using our online form I get an "ADODB
Field error 8002009"? This either means a test is corrupted or coding
needs to be corrected. Please copy and paste the entire error message, including
any lines below it that describes the problem and e-mail
us so that
we can first issue you another test. Turn around time to reissue a test might
take up to 24 hours. We will e-mail you once it has been delivered back to your
Account Area. LINKS AND DOWNLOADS NOT WORKING
I log-in to "My Account" a second time via my e-mail confirmation
that you sent me and instead of ending up on the page where my previously purchased
tests are, the web-site takes me to a page prompting me to buy more tests. Why
is that? When you log-in to "My Account" via your confirmation e-mail
after you've confirmed... the website defaults to assuming that you have not yet
purchased any tests. Please avoid using the confirmation e-mail to continually
log-in to "My Account" and go directly to the site at http://www.ceca-code-course.com/
and select the "My Account" link. Please refrain from saving the Account
Area page in your favorites. If you want to save the site in your favorites save
http://www.ceca-code-course.com/ I am unable to view, print or download
a handout or document. Adobe Reader® is not installed, or the installed
version is older.
Download now. The links within a course are not working.
Pop-up blocking software may be enabled. Please refer to your software manual
for instructions on disabling it. I can't access the course materials.
There are several reasons for this problem: Pop-up blocking software is enabled.
Please check your software for instructions on disabling it. Or you may not have
the Adobe Reader installed - download
now. You may be using a system other than Windows. These courses are not
designed for use on Macintosh computers. NAVIGATION,
PRICING AND TEXT ISSUES During the purchase process the
discounted price for Online testing did not appear. We have run into some
problems associated with the Windows Vista and XP Operating Systems combined with
Internet Explorer Version 7. Internet Explorer 7 since its inception has created
a multitude of problems with little support from Microsoft. We recommend to people
to replace the Internet Explorer Version 7 by either downloading
Mozilla, a popular browser or
download Internet Explorer Version 6 and start the purchase process over.
Or, if you want to continue the test in your existing IE7 browser that does not
produce the discount, then e-mail us so that
we can issue a credit to your credit card. I've
finished the test and it refuses to grade itself! This happens
in most cases because you skipped a question. Please go back and check each question
to insure that all have been answered. I've
answered all the questions and it's showing 100% completed. But my completion
date, score, grade, credit hours and the link to print my completion card are
not appearing. Please go back to the last page of the test
and select the "Complete Exam" button. Though you answered all the questions,
you must instruct the site to then grade the exam.. The
same course page keeps coming back up. Your cache needs to be cleared in your
Internet Explorer. How do I find my place within the course when
I log back in? The test will remember which questions that you answered, but
will start you back at question 1, which will give you the opportunity to review
those answered again. When I open a test it's on the wrong question -
for instance, I open a new test and It starts on question 25 or I return to an
existing test and ended on question 2 and it starts at question 16 - What causes
this? The site is designed for you to take one test at a time. Please do not
have multiple tests open and running as this will cause the additional tests opened
to reflect the pace of the first test opened. My test responses
were not saved when I logged out. Cookies may not be enabled on your browser
